Have you ever given your kids a bowl of natural yogurt? I don’t mean Petits Filous, Munch Bunch, or other sweetened fromage frais - I mean real, plain, unflavoured yogurt. Honestly, I’d never even considered it until about a year ago, when my eldest turned two. What surprised me most was how much it changed our breakfasts. By cutting out cereals and those so-called “kids’ yogurts” (which, as I later learned, aren’t even proper yogurt), I ended up halfing my breakfast budget on our weekly food budget.


Some might say that natural yogurt first thing in the morning is a little boring - but stay with me. Scooping a few spoonfuls into a cute bowl is not only one of the quickest breakfasts you can make, it’s also one of the most versatile. Think about when you buy your favourite box of cereal: you’re stuck eating the same processed flavours, with almost no real health benefits, day after day until the box runs out. Now imagine instead picking up one big tub of natural yogurt - your gut’s best friend, for a fraction of the price. The best part? You can completely switch up its taste every morning, all from that same tub. Starting to see the magic?


Not only is it a personal prefrence of breakfast, my girls love it too. Here are a few of our favourite blends of toppings for your inspiration.


Sweet & Simple
  • Honey Drizzle – honey + chia seeds + sliced banana

  • Berry Burst – fresh blueberries + raspberries + drizzle of maple syrup

  • Apple Pie Bowl – stewed apple + cinnamon + crushed walnuts
